In fourth grade, the students will focus on responsibility, organization, and time management. Please remind students to have their devices charged, book bins close by, and pencil boxes organized on their work space.

Independent work:
- Most days an assignment for Language Arts and Math will be given.
- Independent work is given daily to continue practice of concepts learned.
- 20-30 minutes of daily independent reading is highly encouraged.
- It is the student's responsibility to write in down his/her assignments in his/her agenda daily.
- I will schedule work drop-off and pick-up schedules as needed during the year.
Reading, Writing,and Language: Journeys
- Journeys Anthology has weekly stories, vocabulary words, and reading strategies in it.
Reader's Notebook (RN) has reading comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, and grammar pages for each story.
The Writing Handbook has writing lessons in it.
Journeys reading Classlink app is called Think Central.
IXL is an online program I may use for extra grammar practice. It can be accessed through Classlinks. Students will complete writing and reading assignments in their composition books.
Accelerated Reader in an online program that students use to take quizzes on books they are reading independently at home. Students took the STAR test last week. They should have written their reading range in the front of their agendas.

Math: Everyday Math
- Everyday Math Classlink app is called McGraw Hill.
- Student Math Journal (SMJ) is used daily for in class lessons. Students might complete Math Boxes during independent work time.
- Homelinks (HL) is the workbook to practice the skill or lesson learned that day or previously. At the start of every unit there is a parent letter that details what will be covered in the unit and answers to the Home links. I found easiest to keep it in the Home links but you are more than welcome to take it out.
- Skills link (SL) is used to extra practice.
Multiplication practice pages were sent home in a folder. I believe a strong understanding of multiplication and division facts will benefit your child in fourth grade math. Students are expected to finish front and back of a page weekly.
IXL is an online program I may use for extra math practice. It can be accessed through Classlinks. One subject notebook will be used to show math work.

- The workbook is usually assigned as independent work after students read from the textbook.

Science
- Stemscopes is an online science program. Students have access to it through Classlinks.
- Students should have a 5-subject notebook to use as their Science Notebook.
- I might ask you to pick-up science lab supplies from school as needed.
